Trust, responsibility, initiative: a month to embody what unites us

Clariane Group

The values of trust, responsibility and initiative are core to Clariane culture. These values bring us together, serve to guide us, and are manifested daily in the actions and commitments of our 63,000 employees across Europe. They also form the ethical foundation of how we take care – with respect, consideration and integrity – of the people we support. Every year, in June, this trio of qualities is brought into special focus in the shape of Values Month, a collective sequence of feedback, recognition and concrete actions in all the countries where the Group is present.

Values Month: a collective dynamic on a European scale

Under the leadership of the value ambassadors, each country organises several initiatives throughout the month of June.

Trust, Responsibility, Initiative

Close up and personal with “Vis Ma Vie”

Among our flagship actions, “Vis Ma Vie” (“Live My Life”) offers head office employees the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of our facilities for a day. The aim is to provide insight into the daily lives of the likes of a hotel service agent, a cook, a technician, an activity leader, a waiter, or a receptionist. It’s a unique experience that promotes better mutual understanding and strengthens the links between the support teams and the teams in the field.

In France, many institutions – Korian long-term care nursing homes, Inicea clinics – are opening their doors to host these Live My Life immersions.

New this year in Belgium and the Netherlands: the 2025 edition of Live My Life is being run under the banner of Switch Expertise. Employees of the support services (communication, human resources, purchasing, accounting, etc.) are invited to put their skills at the service of the host establishments, according to the latters’ specific needs.

In Germany, the “Live My Life” concept (Schau in meine Welt”) is integrated into the development of employees throughout the year. During Values Month, teams are especially encouraged to partake of this experience.

Another vision of work at head office with “Un pied dans ton service” (“Dipping a toe in your department”)

In France, the head offices in Paris, Lyon and Aix-en-Provence are organising for the first time an inter-departmental exchange initiative. Employees can discover, for an hour, the daily life of another department. This cross-immersion aims to strengthen cohesion, enhance employee expertise, and provide a better understanding of the roles of one’s colleagues. Each department will host discovery sessions, in a spirit of friendly curiosity and sharing.

Our values tested against reality

Among the other flagship actions of this Values Month is the launch of the digital platform Et vous, que feriez-vous ?” (“Just what would you do?”) in France and at the Group’s head office. Inspired by the paper game Parlons valeurs !”  (“Let’s talk values!”) created in 2021, this interactive version invites you to think about concrete situations, inspired by professional everyday life.

It helps bring our Ethics Charter to life, by enabling everyone to exercise their discernment.

Values photo contest

Because our values connect us to what we do every day, our teams in Spain are once again running this year the Values Photo Contest, launched for the first time in 2024. This initiative invites all employees, but also residents, patients and their families, to capture a snapshot of what each of the values means to them. Through the perspectives, experiences and sensitivities put on show, everyone can contribute in this way to bringing to life these principles that guide our actions. Three awards will be presented: the Trust Award, the Responsibility Award and the Initiative Award – a visual and human tribute to what underpins our collective commitment.

Vote for values... with the “Korian Stimm-o-mat”!

Another highlight of Values Month is the values voting machine (Korian Stimm-o-mat), deployed in Germany in all our facilities as well as at Korian Germany’s head office. This simple, fun device invites each employee to express what, in their eyes, best embodies the Clariane spirit: trust, responsibility, or initiative. Simply slide one or more coloured tokens into the corresponding ballot boxes.

This anonymous voting makes it possible to bring to light a collective perception of which of the values is most present – or, conversely, least visible – within the teams. The results, revealed after 30 June at an exchange workshop, will provide a concrete basis for prompting discussion.

From words... to action

In Italy, to promote the exchange of good practices and strengthen cohesion, we are deploying Words into Action: a newsletter kit, stickers and totems deployed in all our facilities. This initiative is all about allowing everyone to express themselves freely and to recognise the work of one’s colleagues. Each employee receives stickers on which they can write a word of appreciation, encouragement or recognition, then give the sticker to a person or affix it to the uniform of the person concerned.

K-Awards: celebrating commitment and inspiration

Lastly, Belgium will be organising for the fourth consecutive year the K-Awards, annual distinctions highlighting the most inspiring initiatives deployed within our Korian long-term care nursing homes. These awards highlight projects that have demonstrated, through their quality and scope, the concrete embodiment of our mission and values among residents, teams and local communities. This will offer deserved recognition to the nominees and winners for their contribution to the continuous improvement of quality of life and care through their collective commitment and benevolence.

Welfare Week: strengthening the care culture

In France, the focus in the last week of Values Month will be on benevolent treatment, with the Semaine de la bientraitance (Welfare Week). The entire week will be dedicated to making all the teams aware of the importance of the culture of care on a daily basis, in all dimensions of support. Several communications will be disseminated to the network in order to share pointers, personal accounts and concrete tools to prevent situations of neglect. A webinar will also punctuate this sequence, to take an in-depth look at the issues related to benevolent treatment, highlight existing good practices, and encourage collective mobilisation around this fundamental requirement.

This 2025 Values Month will once again be an opportunity for each of the Group’s employees to bring in their daily activity the values that unite us. At Clariane, everyone has their part to play in making a difference, at their own level, wherever they may be, and whatever it is that drives them!
