Innovating for better prevention: sustainable health for all

Clariane Group

Faced with an increasingly ageing population and growing demands on healthcare systems, Clariane is firmly committed to developing innovative solutions designed to anticipate age-related frailty and encourage community-based prevention. This approach is fully in line with the Group’s social mission, which aims to prevent or slow down loss of independence and improve the quality of life of the elderly in the long term.

Early detection of frailty with the ICOPE programme

Since 2024, Clariane, in partnership with the Toulouse University Hospital, has been implementing the ICOPE programme. Designed by the World Health Organization (WHO), this programme targets people over the age of 60 and is based on the assessment of six essential functions: vision, hearing, memory, mobility, nutrition and mood. If frailty is detected, an in-depth assessment and personalised support are offered. This initiative contributes to Clariane’s Positive Care approach, which places the individual at the centre of personalised and ethical care that is accessible at a local level.

Technological innovation for healthcare and well-being

Clariane sees innovation as a strategic lever for improving care for vulnerable individuals. With this in mind, the Group has joined the EIC Corporate Partnership Programme, launching a call for start-ups offering advanced healthcare technologies.

The selected companies had the opportunity to present their solutions at an exclusive session in Paris on 11 and 12 June 2025, fostering the development of innovative projects in several key areas:

  • Artificial intelligence applied to healthcare: AI-assisted diagnosis, telemedicine, precision medicine.
  • Optimisation of facilities: administrative automation, improving the well-being of caregivers, flow management.
  • Mental health and neurological rehabilitation: cognitive and motor rehabilitation solutions, management of psychological disorders.

Through this dynamic approach, Clariane aims to integrate high-performance technologies that make care more efficient, improve the daily lives of residents and their families, and ensure an optimal working environment for teams, in a responsible and sustainable manner.

Tangible results and human-centred innovation

Innovation is not just about technology; it means taking concrete, people-focused action in our facilities. Since 2023, Clariane has been implementing a fall prevention programme that combines movement analysis and physical workshops tailored to residents. In our Korian nursing homes equipped with Kaspard, an innovative, contactless and image-free early intervention solution for fall risk, this system has reduced the number of falls, while also improving the confidence and mobility of elderly residents.

For Clariane, research and innovation are only valuable if they bring about real improvements in everyday life. Professor Antoine Piau, Medical, Ethics and Health Innovation Director at the Clariane group, emphasises that innovation must, above all, “do better for people” by responding to their real needs in an ethical and impactful way. In 2024, Clariane invested in applied research, launched more than 15 projects in Europe, and produced 91 scientific publications. These efforts have led to the development of solutions such as robotic rehabilitation, precision diagnostics in mental health, telemedicine and non-pharmacological approaches.

An extended partnership and a vision for the future

In collaboration with companies, Clariane is also exploring innovative tools for enhanced personalised monitoring, including non-intrusive sensors, cognitive stimulation applications, and coordination platforms that connect carers and GPs. Each project aims to improve care without dehumanising the patient-caregiver relationship.

Anne Charlotte Dymny, Director of Information Systems, emphasises:

We don’t believe in technological innovation for its own sake. Above all, it must support professionals and strengthen the bond between residents, patients and their loved ones.

Finally, Clariane acts beyond its own facilities, participating actively in the transformation of the healthcare system through national working groups, experiments with regional health agencies (ARSs) and scientific publications, with a view to more inclusive, integrated and preventive policies.
