Clariane, a committed player in local communities: creating social value at the heart of healthcare

Clariane Group

More than just a group providing healthcare services, Clariane is deeply rooted in local communities. Through its facilities, teams and partnerships, it ‘actively contributes to local economic and social life, with a particular focus on inclusion and sustainable employment.

Facilities at the heart of local communities

With a presence in more than 800 communities across Europe and over 1,200 facilities, Clariane is a local player serving local populations. In some rural or priority areas, its facilities are often one of the largest employers. Every time a facility is established or transformed, there is close dialogue with elected representatives, healthcare professionals, community partners and citizens.

Clariane tailors its support to specific local conditions, such as the healthcare system, culture and regulations. This customised approach improves access to care and strengthens the company’s roots in the community. In return, partnerships with local stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, schools, associations and cultural institutions, enhance the quality of life within the facilities. On average, each facility in Europe is involved in six local partnerships

Building social connections and economic value

Each facility in the Clariane community is much more than just a place of care: it plays an active role in the local economic and social fabric. Whether located in the heart of a city, in a rural community or a medical desert, it generates stable jobs, supports local businesses and service providers, and contributes to the region’s economic activity.

The Group pursues an active responsible purchasing policy, favouring short supply chains and local contractors. Each facility is encouraged to open up to its environment by forging links with local associations and communities.

In long-term care nursing homes in France, Clariane recruits most of its staff locally. “We work with France Travail, local employment agencies and training centres to promote long-term integration”, says Camille Blanchet, Human Resources Director at Clariane France. Particular attention is paid to people who find it difficult to enter the job market, such as young people without qualifications, career changers and people with disabilities.

Measurable socio-economic impact

Clariane assesses its economic and social impact on local communities every year. In 2024, the group’s activities generated more than 44,000 jobs in France. According to a study by the Asterès consultation, every €1 of activity at Clariane generates €1.30 in the rest of the economy, and every Clariane job creates 0.6 jobs among its suppliers or partners.

In total, Clariane’s direct, indirect and induced footprint represents €5.41 billion in business volume in France. This value-creating dynamic has a lasting impact on the local economy.

A lever for integration and training

Clariane plays a key role in providing guidance and training for careers in the healthcare, hospitality and service industries. In partnership with vocational colleges, apprenticeship training centres and training institutes, the group welcomes more than 2,000 interns, work-study students or young people completing civic service every year.

I discovered the nursing assistant profession while doing an internship at a Clariane facility. Now I am working there and have resumed my studies with their support.

This active integration policy helps meet the growing need for skills in the sector, while offering real opportunities to those who want to pursue a career in healthcare.

A responsible and sustainability-focused player

Clariane is committed to an ambitious corporate social responsibility programme. The Group favours short supply chains for food and uses local tradespeople to maintain its buildings. For example, in 2024, 82% of our catering purchases in France were sourced nationally and 18% were sourced within the same region as the facility that placed the order.

Social utility in practice

By promoting local employment, integration, training and economic activity in local areas, Clariane demonstrates that healthcare and support are also levers for social cohesion.  Its social utility is embodied both in the quality of the care it provides and in its concrete commitment to local communities, creating links, jobs and sustainable local dynamics.
