Two years after becoming a purpose-driven company, Clariane reaffirms its commitments by placing them at the heart of its business and actions. Through concrete initiatives rolled out across its facilities, the Group is pursuing a clear ambition: to bring its purpose to life every day, working closely with the residents and patients it supports and its staff.
On 15 June 2023, Clariane became the first purpose-driven company in the healthcare sector in Europe to be listed on the stock exchange. This pioneering move, enshrined in the Group's by-laws and driven by a clear purpose – taking care of each person’s humanity in times of vulnerability – was accompanied by the creation of an independent purpose committee to ensure the effective implementation of this ambition.
Two years later, this purpose permeates all our activities in six countries and continues to guide our priorities. At the heart of our daily lives are five commitments that give meaning to our collective action: consideration, fairness, locality, sustainability and innovation.

Consideration: supporting everyone in times of need
Consideration is the cornerstone of our business. It guides our commitment to the people we support, their loved ones, our staff and our stakeholders, especially in times of vulnerability.
In France, a unique solidarity fund, co-managed with staff representatives, enables us to respond quickly to everyday emergencies (accommodation, food, transport, funerals, etc.), demonstrating our commitment to supporting our staff in good times and bad.
- 550 employees benefited from this scheme in 2024.
- Since 2025, this scheme has been enhanced with the allocation of CESUs (employment service vouchers) to finance temporary childcare.
This consideration is also reflected in active and ongoing listening in each of the countries where we operate:
- In France, more than 2,700 contacts were made by internal social workers in 2024, leading to 685 individual support cases.
- In Italy, an external psychological helpline is available to all staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- In Spain, more than 200 members of staff benefited in 2024 from a psychological support platform offering individual sessions, group therapy and mental health prevention content.

Fairness: guaranteeing everyone the same opportunities for development
At Clariane, fairness is based on recognising skills and opening up career opportunities for everyone. Training leading to qualifications and internal promotion are therefore essential pillars of our HR policy and our employer brand.
The Clariane University, launched in 2023 in France and in 2024 in Germany and Italy, marks a new stage in the Group's commitment to supporting professional advancement through training and brings together all the training courses offered, both internally and with partner schools and institutes, under one roof.
In France, 7,200 employees were enrolled in a training programme leading to a qualification in 2024 through the Clariane University.

Locality: cultivating lasting ties with local communities
Clariane works closely with local communities, thanks to teams based in the field, strong partnerships with stakeholders and organisations that are deeply integrated into their environment.
In 2024, more than 3,800 initiatives to engage with local communities were recorded in the Group's facilities, including intergenerational events, cultural projects and partnerships with associations.
In France, nearly 97% of facilities have a formal partnership with a local authority, association or healthcare organisation, thereby strengthening their local roots.
Finally, more than 650 facilities in Europe have stakeholder councils or assemblies bringing together residents, patients, relatives, professionals and other local stakeholders, encouraging consultation and involvement by all.

Sustainability: taking action today to protect tomorrow
Committed to a policy of moderation and environmental performance, the Group takes action every day to combat climate change and preserve biodiversity.
For several years, Clariane has been implementing a structured approach aimed at reducing its environmental footprint: improving the energy efficiency of buildings, increasing the use of renewable energies, controlling water and electricity consumption, reducing waste and decarbonising travel.
In 2023, Clariane published an ambitious climate plan, setting a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions (scope 1 and 2) by 43% by 2030 compared to 2021.
2024 marked a key milestone with the Group joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), guaranteeing a scientifically validated emissions reduction trajectory aligned with the Paris Agreement, as well as our inclusion in the CAC® SBT 1.5° index.
The Group is also investing in energy-efficient renovations of its facilities and in the construction of new buildings that are 100% compliant with RE2020 regulations in France.

Innovation: changing the way we respond to ageing
Faced with demographic, social and digital transitions, Clariane is implementing a truly human-centred innovation policy. Working closely with its teams, researchers, start-ups and healthcare professionals, the Group is committed to improving the quality of life of patients, residents and employees.
For Clariane, research and innovation really come into their own when they have a tangible impact on everyday life. In 2024, the Group stepped up its investments in applied research, launched more than 15 projects across Europe, and published 105 professional papers on research and innovation projects. These advances have led to the development of innovative solutions, such as robotic rehabilitation, precision diagnostics in mental health, telemedicine and non-pharmacological approaches.
Clariane is also accelerating the rollout of digital care support solutions, including fall prevention sensors, diagnostic software support and enhanced telemedicine devices.
The Clariane Innovation Days, on the themes of rehabilitation and mental health, brought together scientific experts, healthcare professionals and partners in 2024 to explore the advances that are transforming healthcare practices.
Finally, Clariane collaborates with renowned research institutions such as INSERM, IHU HealthAge and NPIS, as well as several European universities, actively participating in research projects dedicated to the elderly.
A dynamic to be fostered collectively
In two years, being a purpose-driven company has become a concrete lever for action for facilities, a framework for dialogue with stakeholders and a differentiating factor for the company. The independent purpose committee actively supports the Group in this process and publishes its opinions on the progress made and its recommendations for further action each year.

Being a purpose-driven company is not a symbolic status; it is a goal to strive for. It is what requires us to be better, to constantly adapt and to lead by example.
