To mark the 10th National Centenarians Day, held on 1 July in 260 Korian nursing homes across France, Clariane and Asterès take a closer look at centenarians in Europe. Who are they? Are they evenly distributed across the continent, or do some regions provide conditions that are particularly favourable to exceptional longevity?
The study also explores the main factors statistically associated with a higher concentration of centenarians, from geography and education to social ties, climate and lifestyle habits. It highlights the importance of looking beyond national averages, as regional differences often provide a more accurate understanding of exceptional longevity.
