Orange the World: Clariane stands with women against violence

Clariane Group

“He asks me to keep my phone on while I work so he can listen to what I am doing.” “He forbids me from sharing friendly moments with my colleagues.” “He mocks the way I speak, dress, or work…” These situations, among others, are very real and have been reported to our internal social workers. They affect women of all ages and backgrounds, including our colleagues in our facilities. That’s why we continue to take action so that no woman has to face this alone.

Since 1991, from November 25 to December 10, the Orange the World campaign brings together governments, companies, associations, and media to raise awareness about violence against women. As a purpose-driven company with over 80% female employees, Clariane is joining these 16 days of activism for the fifth consecutive year

An initiative led by the Clariane Women’s Club

In all countries where Clariane operates, the campaign will be promoted to:

  • Better understand the different forms of violence, whether psychological, verbal, physical, sexual, or economic;
  • Raise awareness of violence and gender inequality by encouraging understanding of unconscious biases and prejudices that can affect interactions at work and in everyday life;
  • Encourage speaking up in an environment of listening and support;
  • Support our teams in situations they may identify or help address.

All employees at corporate headquarters and facilities will be invited to wear an orange item of clothing or accessory to symbolically show their support and encourage dialogue with colleagues, as well as with patients, residents, and their families.

Tools to support and take action

To strengthen this initiative, several resources will be made available:

  • The “Violentometer”, to identify violent or risky behaviors;
  • A fact sheet addressing common misconceptions about women who are victims of violence;
  • A practical guide with useful contact numbers and advice for managers in cases of suspected violence.

At the facility level: raise awareness and provide support

Workshops, webinars, discussion sessions, or awareness activities: each country and facility can organize initiatives tailored to their local realities. The goal is to support the fight against violence and promote a work environment of equality and respect.

Did you know?

In Europe, one in three women reports having experienced some form of physical and/or sexual violence since the age of 15.

Our social services are committed to supporting women

Beyond awareness-raising, Clariane acts throughout the year to support employees facing violence, notably through the Clariane Solidarity Fund and internal social services.

Reported cases are on the rise, indicating that women are speaking out: reports of employees experiencing domestic violence have increased by 22% over the past two years.

Forms of support offered include:

  • 100% of housing-related requests receive assistance, with priority access to emergency accommodation;
  • 56% of victims receive legal support;
  • 38% receive administrative assistance;
  • 21% receive financial aid;
  • Specific cases involve emergency food assistance (10% of requests) or emergency shelter (12% of requests).

At Clariane, we have a responsibility to create a safe and supportive work environment. It is essential that our female employees have the opportunity to speak up, feel heard, and receive concrete support and assistance. Prevention, awareness, and support are part of our daily commitment.
