On the occasion of International Nurses Day, several nurses working in Clariane facilities across Italy share their daily experiences, the relationships they build with residents, and the moments that have shaped their professional journeys. Through their testimonies, a common reality emerges: a profession where care goes hand in hand with listening, presence, and ongoing collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams. All of them highlight the importance of human connection, teamwork, and continuous training in a profession dedicated every day to supporting people’s well-being and quality of life.

“Bringing comfort and helping residents feel safe”

At Korian Villa Benedetta, Peter Neng explains that nursing goes far beyond clinical procedures: “What motivates me every day is the chance to truly make a difference in people’s lives. It’s not just about administering treatments or monitoring vital signs – it’s also about bringing comfort and helping residents feel safe.”

One memory stands out in particular: after several weeks of care, a resident looked him in the eyes and said, “I’m happy to have you taking care of me.”

For Peter, these moments are what give meaning to his profession, in a workplace where teamwork and continuous learning are an essential part of everyday life.

“The person always comes first”

At Korian Santa Lucia, Gheorghe Feher believes that listening and being present for vulnerable people are central to the nursing profession.

“Every day, in the eyes of the people we care for, you can see trust, but also fear, hope, and all the fragility of being human.”

He remembers one resident in particular who had gradually stopped communicating. Day after day, through small gestures and a constant presence, a connection slowly began to rebuild.

“One morning, she took my hand and smiled at me. In that very simple moment, I understood that our role is not only to provide care, but also to restore dignity and humanity.”

Caring for every life story

At Korian Villa Iris Trepuzzi, Rosita Quarta reflects on moments when care is also about memory and emotion.

“What motivates me every day is the opportunity to make a difference not only through clinical expertise, but also through everything that goes beyond protocols.”

She recalls a disoriented resident with whom she began looking through an old photo album: “As we turned the pages, I started humming a familiar melody. Little by little, the memories came back, and in the end we found ourselves singing that old song together.”

Supporting residents and their families

At Korian Il Valentino, Neethu Johny highlights the importance of teamwork in supporting both residents and their loved ones: “Being a nurse means caring with responsibility and respect, while remaining a trusted point of reference for residents and their families.”

She reflects on caring for a resident whose situation required close coordination between several healthcare professionals. “Thanks to the collaboration between nurses, care assistants, physiotherapists, psychologists, and doctors, we were able to improve the resident’s daily well-being and reassure the family.”

For her, these experiences demonstrate how essential teamwork is throughout the care journey.

Different journeys, one shared commitment to care

Working in sports medicine, Margherita Converselli, nurse at the Leonardo da Vinci Outpatient Clinic, speaks about “the emotion in a child’s eyes during their very first medical examination” – a reminder that every patient arrives with a story, a goal, or sometimes even a dream.

Having joined Clariane more recently, Francesca Berti, nurse at the Leonardo Clinic, values the relationships built with patients through everyday conversations and shared moments: “Beyond the treatments themselves, there are memories, conversations, and moments of listening that give real meaning to our work.”

At Kormed Tarantini, Silvana Soldano points out that patients often remember how they were cared for just as much as the care itself.

For Michele Rossi, nurse at Korian Frate Sole, nursing is built equally on professional expertise, human connection, and the ability to make a difference through even the smallest gestures.

At Korian San Giulio, Bogumila Barbara Bies-Obroslak, who has worked as a nurse for more than 30 years, describes nursing above all as a passion. She speaks about the importance of teamwork, continuous training, and the bonds formed with residents over the years. Deeply marked by the Covid period, she remembers “a difficult time filled with pressure, uncertainty, and constant challenges,” but also the strength of residents who continued to smile despite their fragility.

Finally, Elena Neri, nurse at Korian Bernina, describes a demanding profession that remains profoundly human at its core: “When you truly love this profession, despite the fatigue and the challenges, you know you could never walk away from it.”

Through these testimonies, nursing reveals all its dimensions: medical care, human connection, teamwork, support for families, and constant attention to the well-being of the most vulnerable. These are the essential missions that shape everyday life across our Group’s facilities.
