Clariane signs its first green energy Power Purchase Agreement with IGNIS: a key milestone in reducing its carbon footprint in line with its SBTi commitment

Clariane aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions from energy use and refrigerants (scopes 1 and 2) by 46% by 2031 compared to 2021. The signing of its first renewable electricity Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with IGNIS, a recognized European player in sustainable energy solutions, marks a significant step toward achieving this target, which was validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in June 2024.
A concrete lever for Clariane’s energy transition
Clariane, the leading European community in care, healthcare and hospitality in times of vulnerability, is making a major move in its energy transition by signing its very first 100% renewable electricity contract with IGNIS, a vertically integrated global energy company specializing in renewable energy. This PPA, which will take effect in August 2026 for a period of 10 years, involves the construction of a solar power plant in Italy. Once operational, it will supply 16.5 GWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 40 of the Group’s Italian sites.
A gradual energy strategy
Through this project, Clariane secures a supply of green electricity while supporting the local development of new renewable infrastructure. This approach strengthens the Group’s climate resilience strategy alongside decarbonization efforts at its facilities (energy management, on-site photovoltaics, connections to district heating networks, etc.).
This partnership with IGNIS represents a key milestone in the Group’s low-carbon strategy. It allows us not only to secure our green energy supply but also to actively support the development of new renewable energy capacity in Europe.
Being able to help companies as relevant as Clariane in their decarbonisation process is a success for IGNIS in its strategy of developing customized energy solutions and energy management for end-consumers and become one of the main independent power producers in Europe while supporting its clients in the energy transition. This partnership with Clariane which means our first PPA in Italy adds to the numerous agreements already signed in Spain and sets a clear roadmap for our long-term strategy in the country.
