From a meeting to a European partnership

In June 2025, Clariane participated in the EIC Corporate Partnership programme, a European Innovation Council initiative aimed at connecting large companies with the most promising European start-ups.

Over the course of discussions between the Clariane and Sooma teams, the Innovation Days held in Milan and then Barcelona, and the work carried out by the Group’s medical experts, what began as a meeting gradually developed into a partnership. A framework agreement was concluded in June 2026, paving the way for the launch of a European pilot.

The partnership is now entering a new phase: a trial period conducted as close as possible to patients and teams.

An innovation tested in Clariane’s facilities

The pilot is now in place in more than 35 Clariane facilities – clinics, mental health facilities and nursing homes – in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

For 18 months, the teams will evaluate how Sooma technology integrates with care pathways, its acceptability to patients and professionals and the conditions needed for a potential wider deployment within the Group. The pilot will also encourage medical teams in different countries to share their experiences, helping to identify the best conditions for implementing this innovative technology.

The clinical challenges addressed by Sooma’s neuromodulation solution are shared across several countries within the Clariane Group, particularly regarding depression, neurorehabilitation and chronic pain. Designing the pilot from the outset as a multi-country initiative allows us to compare implementation conditions, share learnings between medical teams, and better assess the scalability of the technology across our different healthcare environments.

Tech at the Core, Human at heart

At Clariane, innovation only makes sense if it meets a concrete need expressed by patients, residents and professionals. This is why we assess each new solution in the field before considering whether to roll it out on a larger scale.

Our partnership with Sooma illustrates this approach: by taking a promising European innovation and working as closely as possible to patients and professionals, we are transforming it into a concretely assessed solution before considering any larger-scale roll-out.

Beyond our partnership, the project demonstrates Clariane’s belief that innovation is built collectively, by bringing together healthcare professionals, field teams and European innovators to develop solutions that meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
